Fox Hunt III
September 22nd, 2007
Join us at the Kendall County Fair Grounds in Yorkville, IL on September 22, 2007 for our third annual Fox Hunt.
Heavy Combat:
The Fox Hunt:
A timed tournament with Hunters bagging as many Foxes as they can in the allotted time while the Foxes will fend off as many Hunters as they can. There will be two victors, the most successful Hunter and the slyest Fox.
Rapier Combat:
There will be a rapier tourney in the AM, and rapier Melee in the afternoon.
Archery:
We will have 2 ranges (beginner and expert) set up with a variety of shoots planned.

We will have a thrown weapons range this year!
Youth Boffer:
At present we plan to have boffer activites and will post additional details when available.
Aryeton Towne Hall Meeting
The Lord Mayor will lead a discussion with a focus on the next Ayreton Carnivale: how, when and where and other Aryeton events to consider and plan.
Arts & Sciences Classes for Children and Youth:
Heraldry: 001 - Taught by Lady Francesca del Mar
(30 min.) Students will learn basic heraldic colors and forms.
Intro to Sword Fighting - Taught by Baron AElfred of Chester
(30 min.) Show and tell demonstration of different swords used during the SCA period.
Japanese Kumihimo - Taught by Lady Brigette Lafleur
(2 hour) This is a beginning children’s class in Japanese cord braiding. Materials will be provided for the class lessons. Handouts will be available for $1.00.
Walnut Ink and/or Fabric Dye - Taught by The Honorable Lady Jocelyn of Lutterworth and Lord Ian the Green
(Youth and adults) Participants will help gather walnuts in order to create walnut ink and possibly fabric dye. Walnuts are to be gathered, smashed, cooked and stirred.
Arts & Sciences Classes for Adults:
Scribal Roundtable - Hosted by Silken Petals (Rokkehealden)
(Throughout the day) The Silken Petals will be hosting a roundtable with scribal demonstrations, discussions and how to’s, some hands on activities will be available for those wanting to try their hand at and/or practice the scribal arts.
Medieval Dagger - Taught by Baron AElfred of Chester
(1 hour) Techniques using the rondel dagger will be taught. These techniques are taken from Italian and German sources of the 15th century. Students should have a blunt rondel dagger or an eighteen inch long one inch diameter dowel. Students must also have some sort of eye protection such as safety glasses with rigid lenses or a fencing mask. Instructor will have some loaner equipment.
Period Swordmasters, Their Differences, and Making a Choice - Taught by The Honorable Lord Adrain Flechyr
(90 minutes) An overview of the combat sources and masters available from period: the end of the 13th through the beginning of the 17th centuries. A brief look at he basic mechanics and concepts of these systems can help students decide which system may be most appropriate and interesting to them to further explore.
So You Want To Be a Bard - Taught by Baron AElfred of Chester and Baroness Sonya of Prague
(1 hour) A round table discussion for anyone interested in doing bardic performances in the SCA. We will discuss sources of inspiration, how to present your material, ways to warm up and many other topics.
Beekeeping: Then and Now - Taught by Lord Dunstan Bramblette
(1 hour) Students will learn the history and changes that have taken place over the years as they explore the art and science of beekeeping.
Sting Free Beekeeping (Relatively) - Taught by Lord Dunstan Bramblette
(1 hour) Students will learn how to protect themselves from and prevent beestings while keeping hives and extracting honey.
Heraldry for Scribes - Taught by Lord Louis Xavier de Navarre
(1 hour) Learn the basic terminology of blazoning, and how to translate a written description of SCA arms into a picture.
Japanese Kumihimo - Taught by Lady Brigette Lafleur
(2 hour) This is a beginning class teaching the art of Japanese cording. Handouts will be sold for $1.00 and materials will be provided for the initial lesson. More supplies can be purchased at the instructor’s merchant table if students wish to continue their lesson.

The hunt inspired feast of 4 removes will feature a selection of meats from the successful hunt.

Direction to the Fairgrounds:
The fairground are located at the intersection of Route 71 and East Highpoint Road just 1 mile west of Route 47 in Yorkville, Illinois. Click here for a map.
Coming from I-88 via the northwest or northeast: Take the Sugar Grove exit onto Route 47 and travel south through Yorkville. Continue to Route 71 which crosses Route 47 about 1.5 miles south of Yorkville. Turn west on Route 71 and continue 1 mile to the fairgrounds.
Coming from I-80 via the south: Exit onto Route 47 in Morris and travel north to the Route 71 intersection. Turn west on Route 71 and continue 1 mile to the fairgrounds.
